What We Want You to Know
Students. Faith + Swagger. We're just a group of students trying to figure it all out.
What is a peacemaker? A peacemaker is a person who brings about peace and helps solve situations. We wouldn’t get far in without peacemakers. They solve problems, calm chaos, bring logic into the conversation and try to bring a little light into the situation. Katie, TLSA Senior One of the most notable American peacemakers was Martin Luther King Jr. He made a decision to be like his role model, Gandhi, and protest without violence but with peace. I consider him as a peacemaker because he had a cause and did it without violence and became a role model of peace. I respect that he helped to get people together. Jonathan, TLSA 8th Grader Harriet Tubman is a peacemaker especially because it was back when slavery was a big problem... She was a peacemaker by the fact that she helped slaves escape from their masters and risked it all. She kept on coming back and always said, "If I can save one more person.” Harriet was a very special lady and she played a massive role in helping slaves escape. She always had a bounty on her head, but she did not care. She felt called to save people. She went on 19 trips to save people and she saved over 300 slaves and kept every single one of them safe. One of the things I most respect is that she never gave up and that she didn’t think of herself at all. She didn’t quit until she couldn’t do it anymore. Matthew, TLSA Sophomore Peacemakers are important because without peace there would be lots of chaos. Someone who is a peacemaker in my life is my youth pastor. She is so sweet and loving to everyone. She calms people down and she brings warmth into people’s lives. So my youth pastor is an example pf a peacemaker. Emily, TLSA Freshman God is a great peacemaker. It is important that Jesus died for us so that we can live and have peace with him. His background is well, he is God, King of Kings. I consider him a peacemaker because he is the God the one and only. Joseph, TLSA 8th Grader Being a peacemaker is very important. It hard to intervene and make people understand that violence is not the answer. The person that comes to my mind when I think of peacemakers is my good friend Officer John Manson. He is an amazing person and he loves the Lord. He puts his life on the line every day. He is kind, faithful, and strong. I respect him for saving people’s lives. He cares about his family. He is very God honoring. He is what I would consider as a peacemaker. Lindsey, TLSA Junior

A time that I enjoyed God was at camp when I received, my prayer language. I had wanted to receive it for many years.
So the whole week I was praying to be blessed with my prayer language and every evening my friends and I would pray together. It was the last night of camp and I still had not received, but I knew it was on Gods timing. Then my youth pastors came over to me and started praying for me. I don’t remember much after that but when I opened my eyes all my friends were around me praying and everyone else was gone. That night one of my best friends had also received her prayer language. That was the time I enjoyed God at camp. Jesus is my Superman. He is the Son of God, the Savior and He’s the anchor of my soul. He helps me through all my troubles. When I am depressed He helps. He is the man that makes everything, and he Son of the Great Father.
Who is Jesus to me? He is my Savior. He is the man that cures. He strengthens. “Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” He saved me when I was sinking and He is my superman. I couldn’t ask for anyone better; He is love. |
