What We Want You to Know
Students. Faith + Swagger. We're just a group of students trying to figure it all out.
Hi! My name is Lillian and I am going to tell you about Cain and Abel.
Adam and Eve had two sons. Their names were Cain and Abel. Cain worked in the fields and Abel took care of the flock. One day, they were offering something to God. Abel offered a lamb and Cain offered some fruit. God liked Abel’s offering but he didn’t like Cain’s. Cain was very jealous. Then God spoke to him and said that he will give Cain another chance. But Cain didn’t listen. Instead, he asked Abel to walk in the fields with him. His jealousy took over and then he killed him! Then, God spoke to Cain. He asked, ”Where is Abel?” “Am I supposed to take of him?” said Cain. But God knew Cain had killed him. So God punished Cain. He would be kicked out from the land. ”This is more than I can bear!” said Cain. But God didn’t care. He still loved Cain, so he put a mark on him so nobody could kill him.

My name is Desarae and I am in the eighth grade. I’m going to talk about the fall, or the first sin.
God made Adam and Eve who lived in the garden of Eden. The garden of Eden is a beautiful garden with lots of fruits, trees and plants. Out of everything God made he made for our benefits. He made food, friends and animals so that we not only could be fed and hydrated, but also that we could be happy. Adam and Eve had a perfect life with no problems. The only thing they could not do was eat from the tree in the middle. God said it would kill them. Adam was most likely caring for the garden and Eve was walking with him. Eve saw a serpent and stopped. The serpent said lots of things to persuade Eve to eat the fruit from the tree. He said stuff like “It will open your eyes. ” and “It will make you like God”. The serpent was untruthful and tempted Eve til she had seen how delicious it looked and she ate it. Adam didn’t stop her but also ate some too. They saw that they were naked. They found leaves and made clothes. Then they heard God call for them. They were afraid to tell him what they had done. After the Lord asked who caused this. Adam said Eve and the Eve blamed the serpent. God made it to where they would forever be to blame for having sinned. Adam would have to work to provide food for him and his family. Eve would have more pain during child birth. The serpent’s punishment was he would have to slide on his belly and never walk again. I think that the tree's purpose was to show that the Trinity never makes anyone do anything, they give us free choose. I think that Adam and Eve are to blame for us all sinning because of their careless mistakes. My name is David LaBerge. I am a sixth grader and I want to tell you a true story. In the beginning God created heaven and earth, the earth was dark so God said “Let there be light” and there was light. God made day and night, the first day. Then God said for the waters to be gathered in one place and for land to appear and have plants and trees, the third day. God created the Sun, Moon and Stars, the fourth day. God created fish and birds, the fifth day. Then God made man in his image out of the dirt and land animals. On the seventh day God rested. My favorite day was the third day because of yummy fruit, apples, oranges, grapes and cherries. Hello my name is Micah I would like to tell you about God's creation. God created the heavens and the earth, then light on the earth on the first day. On the second day God created a space between the waters below and the waters above. On the third day God created land and vegetation. On the fourth day God created day, night, sun, moon and stars. On the fifth day God created birds and fish. On the sixth day God created animals and people. And on the seventh day God rested. My favorite day is when God made people. Life in America has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. Now in 2017 Christians are being called "extremists" and "hate groups." In the U.S. Army training they specifically identified Christians as "religious extremists."
Christians are hated because of what they believe. All over the country people are being fired from their jobs for expressing their Biblical view, so in my opinion the persecution of Christians is only going to get worse in the years ahead. Now in some cases we might be the problem. Over 939 hate groups are active int eh United States. These people are "so-called Christians" but their hatred will not do anything to help our cause. In my opinion these groups are Christians in name only. Their teachings and actions are very anti-Christian. The thing Christians get the most bad rap from is the argument about gay marriage. The Christians don't hate the people, but they do hate the sin. Christians are not trying to make you angry, we just want to have our own beliefs. This is what we believe and we will stick to it. Now, we all sin but we have made a big deal about one sin when we do a lot of sins ourselves. We lie, cheat, steal... So why are we so against one thing and not what we are doing on a daily basis? People that hate religion go to some things that you might be thinking: 1. Religion enslaves you to performing religious duties. 2. Religion causes you to judge others and live a life of comparison. 3. Religion makes you feel like God owes you. 4. You might be living a double life. All of these things sound relevant to non-Christians but I would beg to differ. We don't do religious stuff because we are enslaved, we do it to show the lord that we love Him. God does not owe us anything. He gave us life. What more could we ask of Him? I look forward to seeing my grandpa in heaven. He was a great man and he loved the Lord. He was a carpenter and he loved racing. We were at the race track almost every Saturday. He also liked fishing. He died when he was 73 and when he died the grandfather clock stopped working.
My grandpa had big glasses and was bald with a mustache and sometimes he would grow out his beard near Christmas to play Santa. He liked to wear either a hat or bandana. My grandpa and grandma had six kids. When they were young they went to church he was involved in it. When his kids were grown he started to have financial and health problems and drifted away from the Lord. He quit going to church. He knew he was gonna die so he moved his truck and told us he didn't want his stuff to be a burden on us. The Sunday before he died he wanted to go to church and make things right with the Lord. That Wednesday he died and at his funeral they put a checked flag on his casket because he liked racing. My mom said that she believed the flag meant he finished the race because he came back to the Lord. In heaven I would want to go fishing with my grandpa or go racing. There is not pain in heaven, so I would want to go all out, knowing we wouldn't get hurt. I know my grandpa will be in heaven. Worship to me is just blasting loud Christian music and singing and dancing. It can be just hanging out with my friends talking about the Lord and going to a concert. I am eager to worship sometimes and why is because sometimes I don't like how some people worship and when I don't like it I just kinda sit down and don't talk. But when I do like it I get up and sing along.
What I would need to change about my life is the way I act and do stuff outside of church because I am not the same girl that was just smiling and singing and having fun. Another thing I need to change is my attitude because I don't have the ability to control my emotions... like the littlest things could just change how my personality is. My confidence level needs to change. I have zero confidence in myself and if I don't change those things I don't think I will have a strong relationship with the Lord. Worship is giving God the best that he has given you. Be careful what you do with the best you have. Whenever you get a blessing from God, give it back to him as a love gift. Take time to meditate before God and offer the blessing back to him... a deliberate act of worship. If you hoard it for yourself it will turn into spiritual dry rot, like the manna did when the people hoarded it. God will never allow you to keep a spiritual blessing completely for yourself. It must be given back to him so that he can make it a blessing to others. About two years ago my dad fell off our roof. he was just becoming a believer. He was on the porch roof part of our house which was about 15 ft. and he was power washing the side of our house.
My cousin, my niece and I were in my bedroom and my dad was right outside my window. As soon as I heard him fall I ran to the window and looked out. I threw everything that was in my hands to the floor and ran downstairs and outside to him. My cousin and niece got my sister to help. My mom had just left, so I called her. Somebody else called 9-11. I had forgotten my other sister was home, so I got her. By that time my mom was home and the ambulance had gotten there. He only broke his femur and busted his lip. Through all of it he grew closer to God. A time something good came out of a bad situation was when my parents were getting a divorce. My mom got together with her high school sweetheart and I wasn't too fond of him, but oh well. But then he started taking us to church because he was a Christian. I didn't really know who God was. When we stared going I made new friends and started having a better home. We didn't have as many fights with my dad and no more family problems.
We had a sort of peace come over us like we were safe. After that we went every Sunday and then eventually I got saved and two years later got baptized. I still like going, but most of all I have the best step daddy in the world. I thank God for him as he led us to our faith. I believe God put him in our bad situation to help us get to the good. I highly dislike the fact that the world is normalizing homosexuality. It's wrong and in my opinion, disgusting. I mean... seeing people the same sex kissing in the street is weird. Although they can say the same thing about opposite sex kissing in the streets. I can't stand the fact that homosexuals are starting to have influence on childhood movies that we love like "Beauty and Beast." They are dishonoring Walt Disney and putting unclean ideas into kids' minds.
Homosexuality is also against God's law. Leviticus 20:13 says, "If a man has sexual relations with another man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Besides homosexuality being disgusting, it also causes a lot of chaos. Riots in the streets, arguments with every little problem... I feel like homosexuals look at straight humans and think, "Oh look! It's someone who's going to scorn me!" They judge people who don't agree with them. There is a television show I love to watch called, "Fixer Upper" with Chip and Joanna Gaines. They found themselves in some hot water after a BuzzFeed article called them out for attending a church where the pastor, "takes a hard line against same-sex marriage and promotes converting LGBT people into being straight." Chip Gaines said, "Joanna and I have personal conviction. One of them is this: We care about you for the simple fact that you are a person, our neighbor on planet earth. It's not about what color your skin is, how much money you have in the bank, your political affiliation, sexual orientation, gender, nationality or faith. Those things are fascinating, but can't add or take away from the reality we're already pulling for you." What can I do? Pray for homosexuals and the rest of the world as well. Try not to scorn them for what they believe. Instead, love them for who they are and show them what God is like through you... not by shoving the harsh truth in their faces by saying, "Homosexuality is wrong and you will go to hell if you continue to live your life like this." NO! Don't do that! That's going to hurt them more. Show them love by treating them the way God would treat you. Remember what Chip Gaines says. Homosexuals are humans like us. They have feelings and they want to be loved and have friends... things we all want. Where do angels come from?
Angels come from the beginning of the Bible before Satan got cast out of Heaven. Angels were created by God at the beginning. I think there are different types of angels. There are the archangels like Gabriel, the Elder angels and the Worship angels that are worshiping day and night all the time. They are different beings than humans. There are a lot of places in the Bible that talk about angels. Gabriel is probably the most famous. In the story of Mary and Joseph the angel Gabriel came and told Mary that she was going to have a baby and to name him Jesus. Later Gabriel told Joseph to believe her and take Mary as his wife. When people die do they become angels? No, we don't become angels because we are God's children. We were created to be God's children and angels were created to serve God, not us. You wouldn't want your child to be your servant for of eternity. No, of course not! |
